Hucab Elementary School has around 140 students and a staff of nine. It is seen as under developed in terms of learning materials, equipment and school facilities. Due to it's position accessible by a narrow slippery, especially in the rainy season, road the students and teachers face substancial difficulties in their quest for Education.
94% of the parents are subsistance farmers or gardeners, 3% in micro business , 2% wood carvers and 1% government employees.
Location
Hucab is a barangay in the municipality of Kiangan in the mountainous Ifugao Province in the north of the Philippines.
Visit
At the end of February 2023 some of the trustees were able to visit the school to assess what help could be given by ODE. The trustees were given a fantastic welcome by the staff as well as the students, some in traditional dress.
We were able to see some the problems faced by the school including lack of internet due to it's location. After discussions with the Head ODE is looking into the possibility of providing a new digital projector.
Summary
Initially we provided photocopying paper to help with the on going modular education.
Due to the ongoing situation with Covid in February 2021 we decided to make a further donation of more photocopying paper.
In July 2021 awards of supplies to three graduating students were provided to help them in their first year of High School. Congratulations and well done to Alondrey Lyka Balanti, Alkhane Kim Buligon and Denver Ballogan.
In 2022 we were able to send a box of library books as well as some clothes for the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program. This was followed in 2023 with a digital projector as well as an integrated computer monitor system.
In 2024 we have provided a computer system as well as further reading books.

Over half the students , 78 pupils, are included in the 4Ps program (Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program) a government scheme to help the poorest of the poor.
